At the 2020 CUA meeting in Victoria BC we will be celebrating the 75th birthday of our organization, and she is looking in fine shape. Think back to 1945 when the CUA was born: Gasoline was 15 cents per gallon, Maurice Richard set a new record for most goals in a single season (50), Neil Young was born, and our first annual meeting was a joint CUA/CMA event held in Montreal. We did not have our first independent CUA meeting until 1949, also in Montreal.
Fast forward to June 2020 and you will find that your local organizing committee has been hard at work securing wonderful venues that highlight the rugged west coast charm that will be in full bloom at that time. Linda Lee and Jeff McCracken have been using their Victoria connections to make it all happen. Peter Black and Keith Rourke have assembled a diverse team of guest speakers as well as a top-notch scientific program committee from across Canada in order to keep the academic quality of the CUA meeting at its best.
There also will be plenty of recreational opportunities at your doorstep, so please consider coming early and staying late! Whale watching, sailing, hiking, cycling, golfing and salmon fishing (to name just a few) are all within your reach at that time of year.
