Thomas Parkinson co-founded Peapod with his brother Andrew in 1989 when he was 29 years old. With $50,000 in seed money from friends and family, the Parkinson brothers pioneered the online grocery delivery concept and created the first e-commerce company in the world. Twenty-nine years later, Peapod is now owned by Ahold Delhaize and maintains its leadership as the largest e-grocer in the U.S., serving 24 markets in the Midwest and on the East Coast.
As Peapod’s CTO, Thomas serves as the company’s technology visionary. He is responsible for Peapod’s web and mobile product development, IT infrastructure, supply chain systems and R&D. Even after 30+ years in the software development field, Thomas retains his passion for creating unique online experiences and delivering superior customer service.
Thomas holds a Masters in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and a BA from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. For fun, he plays in a rock band, Who’s Your Daddy. Thomas and his wife have placed 1,517 orders with Peapod, which is the equivalent of one order every week since the founding of the company.

Carmela Cugini is the Vice President of Grocery, Wholesale and International at Jet.com. She joined Jet.com in April of 2016 after spending 18 years with PepsiCo and 5 years at Merrill Lynch. While at PepsiCo she held many positions ranging from general management, sales and operations, business development, revenue management, finance strategy, marketing and brand development. As a prior CPG Executive, she has a deep appreciation for creating win/win partnerships between the brand and retailer. This passion is one of the many reasons she joined the Jet team. With Jet’s vision in e-commerce and values of trust, transparency and fairness, Carmela and her team believe that developing strong brand partnerships is the foundation to delivering a best in class experience for the consumer which is a critical component to long term sustainable growth.
On a personal note, Carmela was born and raised in Columbus Ohio, completed her Bachelors in Pittsburgh PA and furthered her education at Carnegie Mellon and Harvard University. She loves spending time traveling, going to the spa, taking a long bicycle ride and believes family, friends, faith, humility and maintaining a great sense of humor are the keys to her success and happiness.

John is a proven Senior Executive and Board Member with 30 years of success in consumer packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, FMCG, packaging, and manufacturing.
In his executive career, John has held leadership positions at The Coca-Cola Company; Coca-Cola Refreshments; Coca-Cola North America; and Procter & Gamble (P&G). He is VP and general manager of the Coca-Cola North America eCommerce group, leading the development and overall management of the eCommerce vision and roadmap, including commercial and marketing strategies, customer development, and new business models.
He was responsible for over $1.5B revenue and P&L, leading a sales, marketing, franchise, and field execution team of more than 100 professionals for 8 of the company’s top 25 global customers – growing profit over $100M in 4 years. As VP of bottler planning and operations, John directed business planning and franchise relationships, for Coca-Cola Enterprises – he was part of one of the largest vertical integrations in U.S. business history, and establishing the world’s largest beverage operating company Coca-Cola Refreshments. John led the organizational design and development of a company’s shopper insights and marketing group, driving the company’s customer marketing and shopper insight position from #10 to #5 (Cannondale) in 18 months. In separate scenarios, John developed an integrated global advertising campaign named in the yearly Top 10 new brand launches by Ad Age; and developed and implemented new segmented growth plan the in drug and value channels giving double-digit revenue and profit growth YOY for 5 years – strengthening strategic customer relationships with robust shopper card analysis, digital marketing, and trade spend. He is a passionate leader who inspires teams to exceptional performance.
John obtained a B.S. in Marketing and Communications from Florida State University; and a Certificate in Advanced Financial Management from Emory University. He has served on boards and advisory councils, including for LPGA Legends Golf Tour, and previously National Association of Chain Drug Stores Retail Advisory Council.
