The Heartland Fall Forum is the premiere gathering place for those interested in independent bookstores throughout the Midwest. Hosted jointly by the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association and the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association, we are unique in the regional bookselling world because we present two regions of booksellers as one large Midwestern community.
We represent 12 states and nearly 350 independent bookstores, from the far reaches of North Dakota to Ohio, from Kansas to the tip of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and all states in between. Our booksellers form the backbone of literary culture in the Heartland.
We provide a rich environment for anyone allied to the book industry to meet one another, network, introduce authors, promote new titles, place orders, and learn crucial skills from one another to keep independent bookselling strong. We offer a busy show floor, a wide range of author events, and various formats of practical and inspiring education.
We are a members-only show. Our attendees include booksellers, publishers, authors, wholesalers, distributors, sidelines vendors, librarians, teachers, media, book bloggers, and more.

We are your connection to the best locally owned and operated independent bookstores and booksellers throughout the Midwest. We are a nonprofit trade association that supports the success and growth of independent bookstores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We work primarily with booksellers and the people who do business with them: publishers, wholesalers, distributors, sales reps, and others allied to the book industry. Our strong and thriving community looks forward to welcoming you today. With over 225 members, including nearly 175 bookstores, we represent a substantial portion of the region.
