PMRG’s Healthcare Marketing Researchers Connect (formerly named the PMRG Annual National Conference) is focused on leveraging new, strategic insights, in order to optimize the impact of business decision making. At our 2014 ANC, we discussed the evolution of the role of marketing researchers into strategic leaders. We now look to further enhance our roles by utilizing new data technologies and methodologies that can provide the deep insights needed for making key business decisions in a time and budget constrained environment. We must evolve our practices to meet the information needs for the changing healthcare environment. These information resources will fuel key strategic business decisions that optimize brand performance in the pharma, biotech, medical device, diagnostics, and allied health areas.
The dynamic healthcare environment and the rapidly growing information age of big and thick data has required marketing researchers to use both "deep" and "broad" information to fuel business decision making. The good news is that, fundamentally, we as marketing researchers have always been astute at piecing together insights from various sources to discover the business implications of these insights. More impactful insights will enable market researchers to increase their value to their organizations and end clients.
We will provide attendees with a better understanding of how changes to the healthcare landscape affect framing and prioritization of key business issues, how to best address key business questions from a methodological standpoint, how to utilize new data technologies, and how to synthesize and leverage insights within a broader business model and context. As appropriate, cross-sector examples will be used to help illuminate the ways in which other industries have met challenges similar to those now confronting the healthcare industry.

The Pharmaceutical Marketing Research Group was founded in 1961. However, there were originally two PMRGs - the Eastern Pharmaceutical Market Research Group (EPMRG) and the Western (WPMRG). All regions east of Chicago were included in the EPMRG and those west of Chicago were part of the WPMRG.
Today, PMRG is an independent, member-based, not-for-profit association that advances the principles, practice and power of healthcare marketing research by creating a community that supports individual professional development and acts as an advocate for the profession as a whole.
