More than 3,000 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students, pharmacy school faculty, and exhibitors came together in New Orleans Oct. 15-19, 2016 to explore the opportunities, solutions, and profits ahead for the $81.5 billion business of independent community pharmacy. The 2016 meeting featured new dimensional programming for the entire pharmacy, from the front end to the back office and new opportunities for expansion. The Opening Night Idea Sharing Session brought together pharmacists sharing numerous money-making and money-saving tips, and several educational sessions featured an idea sharing 'Shoot the Breeze' session to dig deeper into topics discussed during workshops. The Exhibit Hall featured more than 240 companies showcasing the latest technology, products, and services specially designed to help community pharmacists succeed. DeAnn Mullins, BPharm, CDE, of Lynn Haven, Fla., owner of Mullins Pharmacy, WeCare Wellness, and the WeCare Diabetes Education Program, was inducted as the 2016-2017 NCPA President at the 118th Annual House of Delegates.

A fun jazz fest party on Tuesday night closed out the convention and energized attendees for next year's convention in sunny Orlando, Fla. Oct. 14-18, 2017- mark your calendars now.
