National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones (NAFTZ) is a non-profit organization composed of public entities, individuals and corporations involved in the U.S. Foreign-Trade Zones program. There were 179 active FTZs during 2014, with a total of 311 active manufacturing/production operations. A record 420,000 persons were employed at 2,700 firms that used FTZs during the year, an increase of 30,000 employees over 2013. The FTZ Board processed 57 applications for new or expanded production authority in 2014, and reorganized 18 zones under the Alternative Site Framework.
