The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, a/k/a Jazz Fest, is a 10-day cultural feast in which thousands of musicians, cooks and craftspeople welcome 400,000 visitors each year. The Louisiana Heritage Fair showcases unforgettable music on multiple stages, delicious Louisiana cuisine in two large food areas, and crafts artisans from the region and around the world demonstrating and selling their work. The Louisiana Heritage Fair is held at the Fair Grounds Race Course over the course of 2 weekends.
The Festival celebrates the indigenous music and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana, so the music encompasses every style associated with the city and the state: blues, R&B, gospel, Cajun, zydeco, Afro-Caribbean, folk, Latin, rock, rap, country, bluegrass and everything in between. And of course there is lots of jazz, both contemporary and traditional.
More than 425,000 fans attended the 2016 The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell, which concluded on Sunday. Over the course of seven days of programming - from Steely Dan’s opening day magic to Neil Young’s impossible-to-resist command on the final day to “Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World,” followed by Trombone Shorty’s only-in-New Orleans funk fest that closed out the event on the Acura Stage - the Festival rolled on through sunshine and rain.
Next year’s 48th annual event is scheduled for April 28 - May 7, 2017.
The Festival is owned by The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc., a Louisiana non-profit corporation organized to preserve and promote the music, arts, culture and heritage indigenous to Louisiana and the New Orleans area. A two-weekend event featuring twelve stages of music, plus art and traditional food, this outdoor daytime celebration is held on the park-like infield and in the grandstand area of the historic Fair Grounds Race Course. The Crafts Fairs present works by some of Louisiana's and the nation's most talented artisans participating in three tented areas - Contemporary Crafts, Louisiana Marketplace, and Congo Square African Marketplace.
Artists/Vendors may rent a booth for only one weekend of the event. Preference for weekend and booth type may be indicated on the application form, but the Festival cannot guarantee preferred choice.
