Keynote Speakers

Pat Williams

Co-Founder and Senior Vice President

NBA's Orlando Magic

Pat Williams is an inspiration! In this thought-provoking speech, he will detail the seven keys to leadership and teach how you can be a more effective leader.

Williams became a pro sports general manager at age 24 — one of the youngest in history, and has spent 49 years as a player and executive in professional baseball and basketball. Since 1968, he has been in the NBA as general manager for teams in Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia — including the 1983 World Champion 76ers — and the Orlando Magic, which he co-founded in 1987 and helped lead to the NBA finals in 1995. That makes Williams one of only two NBA executives in history to serve as general manager of four different franchises.

Williams has been an integral part of NBA history. Twenty-three of his teams have gone to the NBA playoffs and five have made the NBA finals. A large portion of his success is due to his ability to meld great talents into championship teams. Nineteen of his former players have become NBA head coaches, nine have become college head coaches while seven have become assistant NBA coaches.

In the last 14 years, Williams has completed 57 marathons — most recently, the 2010 New York City Marathon — and also climbed Mt. Rainier. He is also the author of over 65 books, his most recent title being “Coach Wooden: The 7 Principles that Shaped His Life and Will Change Yours.”

William Taylor

Co-Founder and Founding Editor

Fast Company

How is your company keeping pace with the trends that are challenging businesses to stay relevant? Bill Taylor will guide you through the processes of “big change,” focusing on marketplace strategy, company culture and individual openness to seeing and doing things that have never been done before. Inspiring case studies will show how companies managed their transformation to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.

William C.Taylor is an agenda-setting writer, speaker and entrepreneur who chronicles the best ways to compete, innovate and succeed. His new book, Simply Brilliant: How Great Organizations Do Ordinary Things in Extraordinary Ways, offers a set of messages and a collection of case studies about how to unleash breakthrough creativity and cutting edge performance in even the most familiar, slow-to-change fields. His career has been devoted to challenging conventional wisdom and showcasing the power of business at its best. As co-founder and founding editor of Fast Company, he launched a magazine that won countless awards, earned a passionate following among executives and entrepreneurs around the world, and became a legendary business success. In less than six years, an enterprise that took shape in some borrowed office space in Harvard Square sold for $340 million.
