Event Overview:

This must-attend event for economic developers is IEDC's first annual conference outside of the United States. It will focus on how to Connect, Collaborate, and Create at the global level to contribute to the transformation of local, state, and regional economies. With the emergence of new global markets, communities need to work together to encourage competition and advance economic growth.

THE CONFERENCE AND HOSTS

Toronto and its surrounding region are repeatedly and consistently ranked at the top of international indexes for competitiveness, innovation and liveability. Very few cities in the world can offer such multi-sector strength or depth of talent. The region is seen as having a pro-business environment and it prides itself on a municipal government that is committed to nurturing and supporting businesses. The four conference tracks we'll cover are:

1. Regional Collaboration in FDI - The need for regional cooperation
2. Expanding Global Trade - The need for a cooperative approach to support expansion into global markets and the importance of emerging global markets to local and regional business growth
3. Start-up Ecosystem - How start-ups, incubators and business improvement areas / main street revitalization are shaping economies
4. Creative Capital Gains - How culture, sport, film, music and creative industries are transforming economies
