Husker Harvest Days 2019
Some things about HHD have remained constant over the years, including big crowds, popular harvest demonstrations and the very latest in agriculture machinery and technology.
Today’s Husker Harvest Days is recognized as the World’s Largest Totally Irrigated Working Farm Show™ and features the most extensive state-of-the-art information and technology available for today’s agricultural producers.
Nebraska Farmer, working with the Agricultural Institute of Nebraska in Grand Island, developed the Husker Harvest Days event in 1978, on 1,000 acres of former U.S. Army Ordnance land located west of this central Nebraska city. The goal for the event, from its beginning and today, is to showcase the latest products, services, information and practices in agriculture.
Husker Harvest Days has become one of the nation’s premier working farm shows, with exhibitors, cropping technology and field demonstrations geared to Nebraska and Western Corn Belt agriculture. It is the nation’s largest farm show where all field crops and crop technology plots are irrigated. The crops produced on site for field demonstrations and crop culture exhibits are under various center-pivot and lateral-move sprinkler irrigation systems and feature additional irrigation products and configurations. Many of these systems are demonstrated during the show.
The nation - and world’s - top irrigation equipment and product suppliers are show exhibitors.
Farmers and ranchers from 28 states and several countries attend the show each year. Visitors have access to nearly 600 exhibitors with agriculture’s latest product introductions, meet face-to-face with company representatives and gain hands-on knowledge about the latest products and services for their farms and ranches.
Each year, visitors have the opportunity to see everything, from the latest in technology to seed to crop chemicals to field demonstrations to livestock handling and equine events. Additionally, rural lifestyle, health screening services, antique farm tractors and equipment, and arts and crafts exhibits are included in the show.
Husker Harvest Days was one of the first farm shows to conduct cattle handling demonstrations. And the Nebraska Farmer Hospitality Tent holds one of the largest health screening services available anywhere at an agricultural event.
