Selena Ahmed

elena Ahmed, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Food Systems at Montana State University (MSU) and is a Co-founder of Shoots and Roots Bitters. Her research interests are at the interface of food, health, and the environment. At MSU, Selena leads the Food and Health Disparities Integrative Lab that carries out basic and behavioral studies on the socio-ecological, biochemical, genetic, and functional basis of food systems. This research includes local, national, and global projects including studies on impacts of environmental variation on specialty crop quality (tea, maple, and huckleberries) and assessing the persistence and change of indigenous food systems. Selena has been examining tea systems since 2006.
