Jesse Hirsch

Futurist & Digital Strategist

Jesse owns and operates Metaviews Media Management Ltd., which focuses on research and consulting around new media business models, big data, and the strategic use of social media. He is also a co-founder of the Academy of the Impossible a peer to peer lifelong learning facility. Because of the impact technology has on our relationship with the world, Jesse believes that it should be used in responsible and creative ways. He encourages audiences to use technology as the catalyst for collaboration, education, and growing thriving organizations. 

A speaker who brings excitement and curiosity to technical topics, Jesse is able to synthesize abstract concepts into digestible and actionable pieces of information. His insightful presentations feature valuable unique strategic insights relative for each audience. He is articulate, provocative and his area of expertise amongst the most affordable for the calibre of both delivery style and content. 

For two years, he was the host of an interfaith show on the Rogers and OMNI networks called 3D Dialogue. The show explored all the world's religions and spiritual paths through interviews with practitioners, gurus, holy people, and cynics regarding their rituals, scriptures, and beliefs (or lack thereof). Jesse was educated at the McLuhan Program at the University of Toronto. Jesse also recently completed a Masters degree at Ryerson University focusing on algorithms and predictive analytics.​

Dr. Jeff Curtis

Chief Privacy Officer

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Dr. Jeff Curtis is the Chief Privacy Officer for Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, one of Canada’s preeminent acute care, research and teaching hospitals located in Toronto.

Jeff is a Director in the Hospital’s Information Services Group, responsible for information privacy assurance, freedom of information compliance, IT governance and risk management, and corporate strategic planning activities. Jeff was also recently the Privacy Officer for the Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Repository Services (HDIRS) in Ontario, a diagnostic imaging repository for 35 hospitals across four local health regions. He was the Privacy and Security Lead for eHealth Ontario’s Diagnostic Imaging Common Services project, was a member of eHealth’s Identity, Access and Privacy Advisory Panel and has consulted to Canada Health Infoway on its Consent Management Advisory Panel and on its recent Blueprint Refresh Committee. Jeff is currently a member of eHealth Ontario’s Connecting Ontario privacy Committee. Jeff has been a member of the Advisory Panel and a guest lecturer for the Osgoode Hall Law Society’s Certificate in Health Law, and regularly presents in public forums on IT governance, information technology risk, and the privacy and security implications for health care providers and patients. 

Jeff has worked in the information technology sector for the past 25 years and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and is Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC). In 2013 Jeff was recognized as a ‘Privacy by Design Ambassador’ by the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

Jeff has an undergraduate degree in Economics and an MBA from the University of Toronto, a MSc. in Business Management Research and a DBA from the University of Reading, U.K. Jeff’s research focus is on decision making under uncertainty applied to information privacy and security control design and selection.
