The American Veterinary Medical Association has held a convention almost every year since 1863. Locations have varied each year regionally within the United States and even into Canada. Attendance started with a few dozen and has grown to as many as 10,000 veterinarians, veterinary students, veterinary technicians, veterinary technician students, office managers and staff, exhibitors, spouses and guests, children, and others. The AVMA prides itself on being a long-standing gathering place for thousands of members of the veterinary community.
