Texas Event Rotates to Houston in 2013

After a sold out inaugural event in Dallas/Fort Worth, UBM Canon is pleased to return to Texas to serve the Greater Houston area. Houston and DFW are extremely comparable in number of manufacturing establishments, employees, and annual payroll. According to the Greater Houston Partnership, the annual output from Houston area manufacturers accounts for 31 percent of all manufacturing in Texas. Dallas/Fort Worth accounts for another third. In 2014, the Texas event will return to the DFW area.

Houston Market at a Glance

  • The headquarters of 23 companies on the Fortune 500 list are in Houston–only New York City has more.
  • The Houston area is the largest exporter of manufactured goods in Texas–representing 48 percent of the state's merchandise exports, and ranked as the second largest metro area exporter nationally.
  • Named one of Best Cities for Manufacturing Jobs by Forbes Magazine, December 15, 2011
  • According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Houston area lost 152,800 jobs from September 2008 through January 2010 (the peak period of the economic downturn) and reported 153,000 job gains by October 2011, or 101.1 percent of what the region lost during the recession–the fastest gain back of recession-lost jobs of any metro area in the USA.

According to the 2010 Annual Survey of Manufactures, Houston has 5,266 manufacturing establishments, or 26.3 percent of the Texas total. Manufacturing employees number 209,879, and generate a payroll of $30.3 billion, representing 30.3 percent and 32.6 percent of statewide totals, respectively.
