2013 Freeborn County Fair
Antique Tractor Show
At the Antique Tractor Show, you will see the area’s largest collection of tractors manufactured prior to 1970! All tractors are restored, some even better than when they were new. Each year we have 75-100 tractors of which 90% come from within Freeborn County. The tractors are not judged, for all tractors are 1st place for the people that exhibit them at our fair.
The beer garden is not just a place to come and sit to have a cold drink, but also a place to enjoy grandstand concerts without having to sit in the grandstand. There are two new exciting new things this year; the beer garden now offers mixed drinks, and pull-tabs. Open daily starting at 1:00pm., come and enjoy a cold brew at the fair see you at the garden.
The cattle department at the Freeborn County Fair features a modern, spacious barn providing a comfortable stay for the livestock, as well as the exhibitors, and a great place for fairgoers to view some of the best cattle in our area. Our milking facility, located in the northeast corner of the barn, allows visitors a great view of cows being milked and a chance to interact with the milkers. These dairymen take pride in keeping a clean milking area to present to the public and are happy to field any questions.
Again this year we have many commercial exhibits inside and outside to enjoy. Ranging from politicians to vacuums. Visit the Commercial building, under the Grandstand or outside along the streets, and you’ll find what you’re looking for.
“Birds and fish and butterflies! Oh, my!”
Go wild at the Freeborn County Fair!
The Conservation Building is a natural oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the fair, where you may stop and enjoy some of the tranquil beauty and mind-calming delights of nature. A place to experience nature, the Conservation Building offers numerous species of fish, a chance to identify birds, an opportunity to see bufferflies emerging from their chrysalisea, and the occasion to visit with friendly experts.
Creative Arts & Crafts
A place to come and enjoy arts, crafts and food from Freeborn County and surrounding counties exhibitors. The competition is tough and the exhibits are easy on the eyes. These open class exhibitors have been working long and hard on their fair projects so don’t be afraid to take a look and enjoy the local talents.
Draft Horse Show
Come see these gentle giants. The draft horse show is one the favorites at the Freeborn County Fair. We have competitors that come from miles around to compete and drive their teams of horses. This show ranges from one-horse hitches all the way up to 6 horse hitches.
Enjoy a seat in the shade and listen to local talent on our FREE entertainment stage. This stage has a variety of shows from, country to rock, and bluegrass to polka. Sunday there will be a talent show consisting of many different talents from young to old. Located just by the water fountains, so when you need a place to sit and rest you might as well enjoy a little entertainment from your break away from sightseeing at the fair.
Each year we welcome 45-50 food vendors to our fair serving most any kind of fair food you can imagine! Some vendors have been with us 40+ years and others are new this year. Several local clubs and organizations operate these food stands as well as many private vendors from all over the country. They work very hard to bring you the best fair food experience around. Come and enjoy!
