Technology to Make Your Trade Show Run Smoother

Ashley Andrews

If you’re managing any aspect of a trade show or a similar event, you will agree that the tech side of it is changing so quickly that it’s even hard to catch your breath, much less have time to keep up with all the changes.

But rather than fearing the evolution of trade show technology, you can leverage the changes to your advantage by educating yourself on how to incorporate the trends in a way that boosts your event ROI.

Trade Show Technology Tips

Technology enables organizers to know more about the event, the people attending, the keynote speakers, etc. Here’s how you can use it to streamline trade show activities:

1.  Utilize Business Intelligence to Visualize Attendee Data

Trade show data has a deeper story behind it. However, trends in attendee activity go unnoticed in conventional reports, which means businesses miss out on the opportunity to assess business intelligence (BI) that improve attendee engagement. Fortunately, companies that evaluate top BI tools get access to actionable data and interactive visuals. While 3D charts and similar features are aesthetic, integrations like mapping, text placement, customization and scaling help organizers make more out of incoming data.

Businesses may refer to BI comparison websites for selection. Some sites also list a buyer’s guide.

2.  Provide Wearables To Improve Trade Show Experience

Real-time gadgets like GoPro devices and Google Glass will keep attendees on their toes at your trade show. And if you have the resources, you can integrate VR touch points at the event and have attendees do a live broadcast of the event in High Definition. This will help create a playful environment for everyone attending the trade show. To spark interest before the event, create a pre-event promotion that emphasizes the novel idea of an interactive environment at the trade show. A bonus would be to create a VR game that also has an educational or interactive component; it will allow users to gain greater insight into your business.

3.  Use Social Media For Live Broadcasting

Social media technology has come a long way since organizers started implementing it at trade shows. Today, you can use Periscope, Facebook Live, Live Tweeting, etc. to do a real-time broadcast of your event. Also, you can use a hashtag to get additional viewers to tune in on event happenings as their peers (attendees) engage with exhibitors and speakers at the trade show. Live social media broadcasting is key to up-to-the-minute communication with an entire community; smart organizers love to capitalize on the real-time exposure.

4.  Use Display Cases To Create a Wow Factor

Technology can support your overall goals by enriching the way you showcase your services and products. Use display cases to wow the audience and create a textured appeal of your business than creating a static entity that bores visitors. For example, you can incorporate LCD signage to increase the depth and usefulness of your display. It can be used to showcase videos of existing projects, customer reviews, etc. Ideally, a display case will make any service that is difficult to tangibly showcase physically in a booth much more appealing. Consider it a cool swag that pulls in the attendees.

Use these technologies in the overall strategy of your trade show exhibition to elevate the experience for all stakeholders.
