Classic's Rental Incentive Program: "It's Been Extremely Successful for Us,' says Shelman
EventsInAmerica.com (EIA) spoke with Jim Shelman, General Manager, Classic Rental Solutions, at the EXHIBITORLIVE show in Las Vegas.
EIA: Tell us about Classic Rental Solutions.
Shelman: We have a full turn-key rental program. We offer hybrid exhibit rental solutions, extrusion component structures, laminated counters and pedestals, workstations, iPad stands and more. We have a large rental gallery online. And we offer custom design to our distributor network.
How many distributors do you have?
We have about 200 but we work with 75 consistently in the rental program.
Do you have any new products or services you’re introducing this year?
Yes, the island design at this show is a rental. It’s in our gallery. And we’re also introducing new charging stations, monitor stands and kiosks.
Of all the display suppliers, why would one choose Classic Rental Solutions over a different brand?
We’ve taken Rentals to the next level. We offer a wide variety of products and we’re willing to be extremely flexible with customized designs. We understand people are looking for custom exhibits, whether it’s for rental or purchase, and we’re not afraid to offer highly customized designs. If a distributor sees something in our rental gallery that we may not have available at that moment, we’re always willing to add it to our inventory. So we’re really never out of product, if we have a reasonable turnaround time.
How do you prep your displays?
We stage everything before we ship. We’ll assemble the display, photograph it and send our distributor the photos for his approval. Then, once it’s ready to ship, we’ll include packing photos and set-up diagrams. Finally, we’re available at all times for the set-up crews to call us, if they have any questions.
Do you offer any incentive programs?
Yes. We recently introduced our rental rewards program. It encourages I&D (installation and dismantle) teams to treat our properties with a little more care, so they come back without damage or missing components. If our distributors meet this goal, we offer them a 2% rental rewards credit toward their next rental project. It’s been an extremely successful program. Our properties return in better condition and our distributors are financially incentivized for taking good care of our displays. In addition, we offer rental rewards prize drawings twice a year. In this last round, we gave each of five winners a $200 Amazon.com gift card, so it’s another reminder that makes everyone aware of just how important it is to get rental components back to us undamaged.
So, this is a key program for you.
As a company, one of our goals is to keep our rental inventory at a high-quality level. We’re very particular about that. If we see scratches or any type of flaw in our product when we’re staging it, we replace it before we ship it. We never send anything out that’s damaged.
